Burst Testing as ASME SEC VIII

Our burst testing is conducted in specially engineered high-pressure testing facilities designed to ensure the highest levels of safety, accuracy, and repeatability. This destructive test method is performed to determine the maximum pressure capacity and failure characteristics of valves and pressure-retaining components under controlled conditions.

Valves are pressurized using automated high-pressure pumping systems with digitally monitored pressure acquisition and data logging, ensuring precise and continuous recording of pressure versus time until failure. The fully automated test sequence minimizes operator intervention and enables accurate, traceable test data, supporting detailed analysis and reliable reporting.

All test equipment and instrumentation are calibrated to internationally recognized standards, ensuring measurement integrity and compliance with industry requirements. Burst testing is carried out in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII, as well as applicable customer and end-user specifications. These standards define minimum burst pressure requirements, acceptable failure modes, and safety factors to validate design integrity.

Testing Capabilities

Liquid Burst Testing

  • Pressure capability up to 2000 bar (30,000 psi)

  • Common test media: Water, Glycol, and Oil

  • Controlled pressurization rates to ensure safe and predictable failure

Gas Burst Testing (on request and subject to safety evaluation)

  • Pressure capability up to 1600 bar (20,000 psi)

  • Common test media: Nitrogen or Helium

  • Conducted with enhanced safety enclosures and remote operation

These rigorous burst tests confirm the ultimate strength, structural integrity, and safety margins of valves, ensuring compliance with international codes and reliable performance in critical high-pressure applications.
